Silicone O-Rings

Physically, silicone o-rings are based on silicon, an element derived from quartz. To create this class of synthetic elastomers, pendant organic groups such as methyl, phenyl and vinyl are attached to silicon atoms. Different additions of side chains can achieve significant variations in properties. Silicone o-rings have excellent heat, ozone and corona resistance and have good dielectric stability and resistance to many oils, chemicals and solvents. Silicone o-rings maintain the best flexible property at low temperatures but have low tensile strength and low wear and tear resistance.

Silicone o-rings may also come in a metal detectable variation, while retaining the same qualities as the general silicone o-ring compound. Global O-Ring and Seal supplies silicone o-rings that are compliant with FDA standards, and are suitable for use in food and beverage production lines, as well as medical and pharmaceutical manufacturing. Both silicone and metal detectable silicone o-rings meet FDA compliance.
